Faith Formation

Staff | Started Jan 2007

We live in a diverse multicultural society that offers us a rich experience of how the faith is lived, expressed and celebrated in our own time. We see in this society a widespread spiritual hunger - a quest for meaning and for a deeply personal experience of God and of community. There are many opportunities for you to grow in your faith...

The Singapore Pastoral Institute (SPI) offers the Diploma in Adult Faith Formation (DAFF) and many other Biblical, Theological and Spiritual Courses.

The various parishes and the Catholic Spirituality Centre also conduct religious and spiritual talks, short courses, retreats and prayer sessions for the parishioners and interested public.

The Small Christian Communities or Neighbourhood Groups meet regularly to study the Bible and Church documents, share their faith and have fellowship.

Caritas also conducts courses and shares resources on the Social Teachings of the Church.

Homes & Hospice

Ministry of Presence is mission for a few of our sisters who serve in the Catholic Welfare - run Nursing Homes. In St Theresa's Home and Villa Francis, the sisters are present to be with, to listen to, and to pray with the residents.  Another sister visits and interacts with the elderly residents on public assistance in St Vincent's Home in Waterloo Streeet.

More information can be found here -  Catholic Welfare Services'  website

At Assisi Hospice and Mt Alvernia Hospital, one of our sisters works with the Clinical Pastoral Care Team to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. Read more about Pastoral Care in  Mt Alvernia Hospital's website

Migrants

We hope this topic will awaken your awareness of the plight of migrants and challenges you to respond individually and collectively.

The Call - Pope Benedict XVI calls for "the generous cooperation of individuals and institutions in facing the problems of migrants and in finding solutions" in responsible ways " and in a humanitarian spirit."

Other Ministries - Inter Faith Dialogue

" As we grow in understanding of one another, we see that we share an esteem for ethical values, discernable to human reason, which are revered by all peoples of goodwill. The world begs for a common witness to these values. I therefore invite all religious people to view dialogue not only as a means of enhancing mutual understanding, but also as a way of serving society at large." - Pope Benedict XVI

The Archdiocesan Council for Inter-Religious and Ecumenical Dialogue was appointed by His Grace, Archbishop Nicholas Chia on 29 March 2007. Its mission is to promote, organize and coordinate all activities related to dialogue with other Christians and believers of other religions and to contribute to the formation of the faithful to inter-religious and ecumenical dialogue  … read more about the role of Dialogue in Mission.
